About Lykke Knit

I’ve always loved creating – whether it was drawing, sewing, embroidering, or playing with a glue gun in crafts class. Some of my strongest memories are from afternoons at my grandparents’, where my grandmother would set my sister and me up with all sorts of creative projects: we sewed little Easter chicks, embroidered pillows, and painted eggs – always followed by a cup of tea and a warm waffle.

Working with my hands has always given me a deep sense of happiness. It was never just about the finished result, but just as much about the process and the joy of immersing myself in it.

Lykke Knit became my creative space. Today, it has grown into a universe where modern knitting, colors, and community are at the heart of it. And even though so much has changed since my very first pattern, the drive is still the same:
The joy of creating.

Thank you for being here.

xx Christine

My story

My name is Christine Lykkegaard, I’m 24 years old, and I’ve had my brand Lykke Knit since 2020.

Christmas 2019

A new hobby

It all started on Christmas Eve, when my cousin showed me her knitting. Nobody I knew knitted, so I instantly got curious – and the very next day I ordered my first yarn.

Start 2020

COVID and knitting

I learned everything through YouTube and quickly became hooked. When COVID hit, I was knitting constantly – even during online classes in my second year of high school. When I couldn’t find a pattern I needed, I just tried my way forward and ended up with my very first little ‘pattern’.

March-April 2020

@Lykke_Strik

I created my Instagram profile @lykke_strik, and from there things slowly began to take off. In my search for summer knits, I discovered a gap in the market where I could bring my own ideas to life. That became my very first pattern: the SommerPandebåndet (Summer Headband). Shortly after, I had reached 1,000 followers.

2020-2021

Knits, followers, and collabs

I released more patterns, gained more followers, and was featured in blogs and magazines. After high school, I took a gap year to try out Lykke Strik full-time – a year filled with designs, collaborations, and lots of learning.

2022-2023

Always with me

Lykke Knit had become a natural part of my everyday life. I brought it with me everywhere during my gap years – on trips, at Højskole (Danish school concept), and through moving cities – and I experienced how my followers continued to support me and my journey.

Autumn 2024

Succes is not a number

I reached 10,000 followers – a personal goal I’d had ever since I started the profile. It felt huge to get there, but I also realized that, in the end, it wasn’t a number that defined my success.

The Summer of 2024

From uncertainty to inspiration

During this period, I felt a bit disconnected from my brand and my followers. After moving to Copenhagen and feeling unsure of my direction, I went back to my “roots” and designed the EspressoTop – a new summer top that fit the style I was drawn to at the time.

September 2024

Full speed and starting uni

The EspressoTop attracted many new followers, especially from abroad, so I switched to English as my primary language. Shortly after, I began working on the SilhouetteTop, and my follower count really took off – all while I had just started law school.

October 2024

The launch of SilhouetteTop

I finally released the SilhouetteTop, which many had already shown great interest in, and even more followers joined in. I was completely shocked by the overwhelming response – and so happy to experience another big breakthrough.

May 2025

All-in on Lykke Knit

After much consideration, I decided to drop out of law school. It was a big decision that briefly threw me off course, but I quickly found my way back and went all-in on Lykke Knit. It turned out to be the best decision I could have made – and I felt so much happier.

April 2020

In April, I reached 20,000 followers (!!!) – a milestone I had never dared to hope for, and suddenly it happened. It was both the hardest and the most exciting process to get there, but I’ve never felt that Lykke Knit stood stronger, or that I was more connected to my wonderful, loyal followers.

2025–?

What does the future hold?

I’m excited to see what the rest of 2025 will bring – and I hope you’ll continue to follow along on this journey. Thank you for being here!💛
